Guide to the UK’s Country Cottages

The UK’s countryside has become a popular vacation destination. Besides the fresh air, breathtaking scenery and lots of history, the UK’s countryside offers a perfect blend of relaxation and excitement. Away from the city bustle, you can truly relax and forget about your everyday worries, while the scenic landscape ranging from sort of mystical coastline to dramatic mountain peaks with meadows, lakes and rivers in between offer a fun activity for just about everyone. And the best way to experience the UK’s countryside is to stay in a country cottage.

There are many reasons why country cottages are by far better idea to experience the UK’s countryside than staying at one of many hotels. In contrary to hotels which are often sort of impersonal and kind of cold no matter how beautifully they are furnished and not matter how friendly is the hotel staff, country cottages reflect a very special sense of warmth which is unique to the countryside. Most of cottages which are today offered as accommodation did not always serve for accommodating guests but used to be someone’s home. And the fact that they were built as a home gives them that homely, warm feel which simply is not there in a hotel room.

Country cottages are typically left in their original state, allowing their guests to feel like actual residents of the countryside for a few days. Often, they include a number of personal items which enable you to literally step back in time and make you wonder the things they have witnessed over the course of the many decades as much as most country cottages are old. And by retaining them in their original form, they retained that countryside spirit and sense of history which gives them a unique charm. But do not worry though, you will not end in an old cottage without water and electricity. They have may have retained their unique character but they all come with all the modern amenities to make your stay in the countryside as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. It is worth to keep in mind, however, that country cottages are often located far away from populated areas which is why it is a good idea to pack enough food and other necessities for the planned stay or look for cottages with the “civilisation” nearby.

The last but not the least important advantage of country cottages over hotels is of course the price. For a fraction of the cost of a hotel room, you can enjoy like at home away from home. The prices of country cottages vary greatly from one cottage to another, however, they are almost always considerably less expensive than hotel rooms. And with the unspoiled nature at the doorstep and the ability to choose between cottages for 2 to as many as 20 people, you can easily find the perfect one for a calm, romantic weekend or unforgettable birthday party with your friends.
